Kathmandu durbar square also known as Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square is located in Basantapur. 

It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Nepal. it's about 12 kilometers from the Thamel area and a 10 to 15 minutes drive depending on the traffic.

The entire area is surrounding by a temple, palace, and a tower that are very beautiful.

If you love art in architecture then there is a lot to see here building lavishly decorated with fine wood carvings reflecting Newari art especially.

Hanuman Dhoka means a door or gate in the temple. it is the entire palace complex here is named after Lord Hanuman.

It is also known as the Monkey Temple because some parts of the temple in the North West have sacred monkeys. It is one of the holiest sites for Buddhist pilgrimage in Nepal.

These holy monkeys are said to have been adapted from the headlights of the Bodhisattva Manjushri, the Bodhisattva is a person on the Buddha's side.

The stupa is a dome, surrounded by a dome-like structure, which is seen in all four directions by the Buddha's eye.

When he thought that he had killed someone by mistake when he came to know the story of Sudarshan and that village, 

he started worshiping that place as a holy place and then built a temple and that temple is Changu Narayan temple
